Hello cyberworld! Yes, I’m still alive and kicking. Wow, what a busy summer it’s been. The past year has been quite a journey for my wife and I as we wrestled with questions concerning the future of our family and my career. Early this summer after discerning that God would keep us plugged in at our church home here for the foreseeable future I finally committed to pursuing a career in financial services. The summer has been filled with classes, exams, some travel, and working whenever possible. I’m currently working towards my series 7 securities license ( a marathon in it’s own right) which should finally get me over the hump to get rolling. Hopefully I will soon be able to keep the blog updated more faithfully.

Just a quick shout out to a few blogs worth your while. If your into marketing or buyer behavior (we all demonstrate it) check out Seth Godin’s blog. Do you like to think and/or participate in deep theological discussions? You may want to check out Internet Monk. By posting these links here I am not endorsing everything they say or believe, just sharing links that I find to be worthwhile reads. Thanks and enjoy!

Oh how I love the spring and summer weather! Usually when I think of those seasons I think of many pleasant things like fishing, campfires, no jackets, etc… but there is another aspect as well. Lately we have become quite busy with more outdoor projects such as gardening and flowerbeds/landscaping that need to be completed not to mention the weekly mowing. All of it has me pondering again. What are some ways we can become too busy? Especially when there are things we don’t want to think about or deal with isn’t it easy to drown them out in busyness? What are the repercussions for being too busy? Misplaced priorities anyone? I have been guilty in the past of getting caught up in the work that “needs” to be done so much so that I missed many opportunities to enjoy the pleasantness of the things before me. I have moaned about being too busy to go fishing (what’s your thing), but was I really? Please understand it’s not about fishing, but taking time to enjoy some of the beauty and opportunities God has created for us. Not just to consume it on myself, but to ponder Him and share it with others. Can you repay God for the sunsets he paints for you? How about taking time to notice them and saying thank you? Isn’t that a form of worship? If so what does it say about us when we don’t notice or say thank you? When I get too busy I tend to get caught up in the means and lose sight of the end. That leads to purposeless living and boredom. It’s a sad story when we’re too busy to live wouldn’t you say?

Hi – From time to time I will feature/review other blogs I enjoy reading, include posts I have enjoyed or been challenged by from other blogs, or in some form or another give a shout out to those I’ve deemed worthwhile reads. This is one such post. For some time now my wife has enjoyed reading Ann Voskamp’s blog A Holy Experience and through her interest I was introduced to the blog as well. She is a Woman of God whose writings are worth your time to read. We have found her blog to be an inspiration. Thanks Ann for using and sharing the talents God has given you! Be sure to read her latest post here to see why we enjoy her writing.
